It is a dichlorodisiloxane reagent with moderate reactivity and moderate steric hindrance. It can simultaneously protect two functional groups of diol or diamine substrates, with good stability of the protecting group and controllable deprotection conditions, suitable for synthetic strategies of complex molecules.
