It is a dichlorosilane reagent with moderate steric hindrance and controllable reactivity. It can selectively protect hydroxyl groups of alcohol substrates, forming silyl ether protecting groups with good stability and flexible deprotection conditions, compatible with a variety of functional group transformation reactions.
